I forgot his last name but I knew I'd recognise it when I saw it again. His real name is
Luis Gallego (I'm not sure of the exact spelling of his name).

Hey, I actually have memory problems - if it wasn't for you mentioning it I would need to dig through Season 3 again or wikipedia/google search the character to jolt my memory.

When I watched S04E16 again, finally for the 2nd time (to watch it properly/analytically) I had to have notepad opened up (I haven't installed Microsoft Office yet, I formatted my laptop recently) to document all the ideas I get as they come to me otherwise I'd forget them.

Thanks for helping me remember - getting myself to practice using my memory can only help me improve it if it would have any effect at all.

So don't worry about you memory just over this incident, unless there's more stuff that's happened troubling you to give you more reason to worry about your memory.

I'm not sure that I remember well, but I think it was for some kind of petty theft .

Yeah pretty sounds steep - I was wrong. But hearing the real reason - it still sounds pretty steep.

I did some digging on purpose to try and answer this, in S03E11 at 7 min, 40 sec, McGrady explains why he ended up in Sona, only to get his sentence cut-off by Michael so the exact quote isn't clear.

Luis "McGrady" Gallego: "All I did was give a guy ["a knife"? or "an item"??]".

What's in the square brackets are my best guess of trying to hear what he said, I even got the dialog/transcript/subtitles for that episode but it's from an unofficial site and just put in a "-" where the square brackets appear in what in that quote that I wrote.

I would try some other subtitles/transcript files.

That's what Michael pretty much said, between getting killed and life on the run and he said its the fugitive's family that ends up suffering ("paying for it").

His father said in the Season 3: Visitation clips that can be downloaded from iTunes that he drove a car. He also told Michael that he was 18 years old and he'd been in Sona for 3 years, so he was obviously thrown in Sona for driving without a licence. McGrady actually cut his father off mid-sentence, so maybe he was going to say that all he did was drive a car into something. Either way, life in prison for that is the harshest and most unfair thing I have ever heard of! Glad Michael broke him out.
